Job Opening:  Part-Time Library Clerk (17-20 hours per week)

WHERE:     Marshall County Memorial Library
    • Have a High School diploma or GED, some college preferred
    • Have previous customer service work experience
    • Have computer knowledge including Microsoft Office suite, general computer searching, online database searching
    • Be detail oriented
    • Be flexible and able to work with a diverse clientele
    • Be at least 18 years of age                                                                                
    • Be able to lift 25 pounds
    • Be able to bend, stoop, lift and stand for an extended period of time
    • Submit to a pre-employment drug screening
    • Be able to work nights and Saturdays as necessary

  • RESPONSIBIILITIES:                          
  • Assisting patrons with checking in and out of library materials.
  • Creating library cards and files new library card applications.
  • Shelving books, shelf reading and maintaining order and cleanliness in the book stacks.
  • Informing patrons of status of overdue materials and materials requested.
  • Notifying patrons when requested materials become available.
  • Answering any and all patron questions with clarity and confidentiality. Questions are on any topics. You must be able to answer or to refer them to someone who can answer. No question is left unanswered.
  • Taking interlibrary loan requests from patrons.
  • Assisting with memorial book information and accepting other monetary donations from patrons.
  • Accepting payment for fines, faxes, lost items, book sales, etc. 
  • Answering phones routinely in a clear & concise manner
  • Assisting patrons with computers including answering questions about computer programs, online databases, online searching, job applications, resume help and other questions about use of computers and computer programs.
  • Assisting patrons with printing and faxing needs.
  • Physical processing of new acquisitions and repair of items.
  • Assisting with library displays.
  • Assisting with library programs.
  • You may be responsible for opening or closing the library building.

  • RESPONSIBIILITIES:                          
  • Assist all foremen and technicians in day to day maintenance of the water and waste water system and grounds.
  • Clean up after leak repairs
  • New tap sets
  • Ground Maintenance (office yard, shop yard, pump stations, and tanks)
  • School and training for possible future responsibilities
  • Respond to work orders as assigned
  • Read water meters (monthly)
  • Be on-call
  • Perform other duties as necessary
