Deputy County Clerk (Full-Time)
Marshall County Clerk’s Office

Activities associated with the job include assisting customers both in person and on the telephone on issues regarding registration and licensing of vehicles, assisting automotive dealers with vehicle titles, and assisting the public with the registration and licensing of vehicles.  Incumbents will also be entering data for marriage license, business license, driver license, and the various other jobs related to the County Clerk’s office.  Incumbents also assist with maintaining an adequate inventory of license plates and decals. Incumbents must be able to navigate and process items through the TWRA website.  Job responsibilities require the maintenance of detailed records pertaining to daily transactions and all funds received daily are required to balance.   Incumbents have extensive contact with the public and are subject to a high volume of work during certain times of the month.  Activities associated with the job require strong organizational, interpersonal, decision-making skills, experience performing administrative and accounting functions and working with the public, dedicated attention to detail and unquestionable integrity. Incumbents must meet deadlines that are required with certain jobs. Job performance is evaluated by the County Clerk through review of the accuracy, thoroughness and timeliness of daily transactions, level of support provided to the County Clerk’s office, knowledge of office activities and functions, organizational and decision-making skills, and ability to interact effectively with the public and co-workers.  Job duties are also subject to annual state audits.

Necessary Requirements of Work
Graduation from a four-year accredited high school; experience working in an office setting that deals with the public, receipting money and performing routine bookkeeping duties, computer terminals and entering data, attention to detail; strong organizational, interpersonal and decision-making skills; any equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience to provide the following critical knowledge, abilities and skills.

Necessary Special Requirements
  • Possession of a valid Tennessee Driver’s License.
  • Must pass a criminal background check prior to employment.
  • Must be bondable.
