Job Opening: Deputy Cost Collections Clerk (Full Time)

WHERE: Circuit, General Sessions, Juvenile

Reports to:  Circuit Court Clerk or Chief Deputy
 
  • REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    • High School diploma or GED.
    • Very knowledgeable with computers, document management, and excel spreadsheets     
  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Receipt of court-related payments with a primary focus on cost collections through written and verbal communications.
  • Prepares and maintains records of filing fees, bond monies, fines, and other required payments; accepts and records payments and issues receipts.
  • Researches court case files as required and authorized; prepares transcripts of judgments, certified copies of legal documents for attorneys and other types of information; extracts information for the preparation of records and/or the preparation of documents required by Statutes and the Courts.
  • Ensures that necessary documents are included in all case files before submitting them to court.
  • May receive and process case; assign docket numbers, submit them to court, set bench trials, issue summons and warrants, record continuances, file probation reports; may notify the Secretary of State and other agencies about completed cases.
  • Handle telephone and personal inquiries; respond to questions regarding court documents from persons in the legal system, other governmental agencies and general public.
  • Ensures the submission and return of court case files on court dates; prepares the preparation of court summons, citations, wage deduction orders and other legal documents as directed.
  • Prepares end of the month reports and sends to the appropriate department.
  • May be responsible for other clerical duties.
